Almost…but not quite there yet. Need Mac viewer!
As a former owner of a professional video security company, I found the AtHome software set quite compelling. If you can look past the horrible UI, the software is easy to use and connections reliable—ALMOST everything you would want for a surveillance system. Things that don’t work well and/or are missing are both obvious and not-so-obvious. Here’s a quick run down of the pros and cons:
PROS
• Easy setup (e.g., QR code)
• Reliable connections
• Quality video
• Two-way audio
CONS
• No MAC OSX viewer (please add one soon!)
• Boring and messy UI (really stands out against some of the nicer iOS and Mac UIs)
• Streamer software should run in the background
• Streamer software seems unfinished (many features “greyed” out)
If AtHome is consistently updated and developed, I belive it can be one of the best systems out there for lay people and professionals alike. Keep it up, guys!
